Do I need to change locks if I lost my keys?

We usually do not need to change the locks themselves, we simply rekey your current locks and provide you with a set of new keys. Old keys will no longer work.

Do I need to get new keys when moving to a new house?

Yes – you can never be sure who has access to your new home: contractor, neighbour, real estate agent, relatives of previous owners, cleaning services – the list may go on. Again, rather than taking chances and putting your home security at risk, we recommend to rekey all locks once you move in.

If my key is difficult to turn, should I force the key until it turns?

You should never try to apply excessive force to turn the key. This will likely lead to key breaking off in your lock. In most cases, professional locksmith can help solve the problem without damaging your lock and key.

What does it mean to “rekey locks”?

Lock rekeying means to change the configuration of the pins (tumblers) inside the lock cylinder, so that the lock works only with a new set of keys. This is a cost-efficient way to prevent unauthorized entry. It is recommended to rekey locks when moving to a new house or when the tenant moves out.

How long should I call ahead to schedule an appointment?

You don’t really need to make an appointment, but if you want to be certain that we arrive at a specific date and time, we ask to call us at least one day in advance.

I don’t want to give keys to my employees. Can you install keyless locks?

Can I use one key for all locks in my house?

Yes, but only if all of the locks have the same keyway or are made by the same manufacturer.

My key broke off in the lock, what do I do?

Will my lock still work after you open it?
